BRUMABA Operation Tables: Sustainability is a Living Tradition
For over 40 years, BRUMABA has adhered to its own high standards regarding sustainability:
“With every product, we ensure that it is manufactured to a very high quality and sustainably, so that our customers can use it for as long as possible. This was already very important to my father and the founder of BRUMABA, and it remains our focus today,”
says Benedikt Brustmann, Managing Director of BRUMABA.
Sustainable Material for BRUMABA Operation Tables
In the manufacturing of BRUMABA products, we rely on sustainable materials – but what exactly does that mean?
In our view, sustainable material should be produced in an environmentally friendly manner, be durable, and be recyclable at the end of its life cycle. Therefore, for example, we rely on stainless steel instead of plastic.
This Makes Stainless Steel a Sustainable Raw Material for our BRUMABA Operation Tables
The BRUMABA operation tables are manufactured in Germany from high-quality stainless steel. The basis of stainless steel is iron ore. Simply put, after mining, iron ore is processed into iron in a blast furnace, which is then refined into steel. Steel with a special degree of purity is called stainless steel, as components such as aluminum, silicon, sulfur, or phosphate are separated during melting.
Stainless steel can be alloyed with additives, thereby acquiring specific properties, for example, chromium for hardness and corrosion resistance, manganese for wear resistance, or tungsten for heat resistance.
Approximately 5000 to 5500 kWh are required to produce one ton of steel. While that is a significant figure, however: If you weigh the environmental impact against the lifespan, the balance is clearly positive, because BRUMABA operation tables are still in continuous daily operation even after more than 15 or 20 years.
If the lifespan eventually ends, stainless steel can be almost 100% recycled and reintroduced into the cycle.
In comparison, four times the energy is required to produce one ton of plastic.
We Use this Stainless Steel for the Manufacturing of BRUMABA Operation Tables
Since its inception, BRUMABA has most frequently used V2A stainless steel with material number 1.430. This was the first commercially available, non-corrosive stainless steel. To this day, V2A is a true all-rounder and perfectly suited for use in the operating room:
- Heat resistant up to 600°C
- Resistant to water and steam
- Resistant to aggressive environmental conditions, especially against corrosive attacks by acid
- Easy to clean and disinfect

Sustainable Production “Made in Germany”
At BRUMABA, Made in Germany stands for effective cooperation with long-standing suppliers. Short distances allow us to keep the CO2 footprint low and ensure reliable manufacturing processes – especially in times of crisis.
In the development of our products, we place particular emphasis on durability. Therefore, with new developments, we ensure backward compatibility. This means: To ensure our customers benefit as much as possible from the long lifespan of our products, new accessories function with every BRUMABA operation table, including older product generations.
Before your BRUMABA products leave our factory south of Munich for your practice, they should also be packaged as environmentally friendly as possible: Therefore, we are currently introducing a protective cover made of reusable fabric cloths.
We believe in giving products a second life: Should a BRUMABA product eventually be decommissioned, we can refurbish it in our factory and give it a second life.

Efficient Operation of BRUMABA Operation Tables
We have designed not only the product itself but also its operation to be sustainable. Because the electro-hydraulic drive in the operation tables is very energy-efficient – which directly impacts your electricity bill.
Should you have any questions or require maintenance, our technical support team is at your disposal. This is organized from Germany. Our team ensures that the CO2 footprint remains as low as possible through optimal route planning. In parallel, we are building our knowledge base to offer you simple and straightforward digital assistance. Because sustainability changes over time. For us, sustainability is a living tradition – for 40 years.
