Frequently Asked Questions

Can I replace the battery cell of my BRUMABA operating table myself?
No. The battery unit is a safety-relevant component and part of the CE-certified overall construction. It is permanently installed in a stainless steel housing and must not be opened or modified. Important Note: Opening the stainless steel housing or independently replacing the battery cell leads to the loss of product safety and CE conformity and can result in malfunctions and loss of liability. Good to know: The complete battery (including the stainless steel housing) is easy and safe for the user to replace. Please contact BRUMABA or an authorized service partner for spare parts or support.
How Long Does the Battery of a BRUMABA Operating Table Last?
With regular charging, the batteries of our operating tables typically last for 5 to 7 years – significantly exceeding the industry average. Since BRUMABA operating tables are built for an exceptionally long service life, a battery replacement will eventually be necessary. However, this can be done in just a few minutes – without service technicians, downtime, or special tools. Simple, fast, and reliable. Another example of durable, practical technology – typical of BRUMABA.
How Long are Spare Parts Available for BRUMABA Products?
Our products are designed for decades of use – and we ensure spare part availability for a correspondingly long period. We guarantee at least 10 years of spare part delivery from the date of purchase. In fact, in most cases, we can even supply spare parts for more than 20 to 25 years. This is important because a BRUMABA treatment couch is not a short-term purchase, but an investment in lasting quality that you can rely on even after decades.
What is the Warranty Period for BRUMABA Products?
Our standard warranty is 2 years. Upon request, the warranty period can be extended up to 5 years through our maintenance contract – for added peace of mind. Please feel free to contact us – we would be happy to advise you on the options!
How Long Does a Battery Charge Last in BRUMABA Operating Tables?
A battery charge typically lasts 1 to 2 weeks in normal operation, depending on usage. For consistently strong performance and maximum lifespan, we recommend charging the battery approximately once a week, ideally over the weekend. Our batteries are particularly low-maintenance: Thanks to the absence of the memory effect, you can perform intermediate charges at any time without issue. Should the battery level become critical, you will be notified promptly by an audible and visual signal – ensuring you remain operational at all times. A practical tip for your planning: Ensure that the socket used provides power overnight and is not switched off via a central switch. And: If you go on vacation, fully charge the operating table beforehand and then switch it off – this preserves the battery and the table is immediately ready for operation.
How Do I Know when the Battery Needs to be Replaced?
As soon as the battery charge is only sufficient for one to two days of surgery, you should plan to replace the battery. The charge level is reliably displayed at all times via the integrated display on the operating table, so you have everything in view and can react in good time. Thanks to the sophisticated replacement system, the battery can be replaced in just a few minutes, without the need for a technician and without any downtime. This way, you remain ready to work and flexible at all times.
Cost of Replacement Batteries
Depending on the model and country, the price for a new battery starts at €377 (plus shipping and installation, if applicable).
What Happens if a Control Element Fails?
Should a control element on your BRUMABA operating table ever fail, we will quickly provide a solution. Many operating tables are equipped with a foot switch and a handheld remote control. This allows you to continue working seamlessly with the other in case of a control element failure. Upon request, you can also acquire a second remote control as a backup to ensure even greater reliability. However, should a repair become necessary, we will provide you with a loaner control unit upon request. This ensures you can continue working without interruption until the original part is operational again. Quick, straightforward, and reliable – our service for your planning reliability.
How Often Does a BRUMABA Operating Table Need to be Serviced?
Thanks to high-quality materials and robust construction, BRUMABA operating tables are particularly durable and low-wear. Nevertheless, we recommend annual maintenance, which can be ideally combined with the mandatory safety inspection (STK). This regular maintenance helps to minimize or completely avoid downtime and is therefore very economically sensible. Advantages of Maintenance:
  • Reduced risk of downtime through regular maintenance
  • Warranty extension up to 5 years
  • Free safety inspection (STK)
  • Free small spare parts up to a value of 30 Euros

How Do I Remove Ballpoint Pen Marks and Stains from the Operating Table Upholstery?
For stains on the synthetic leather upholstery – such as ballpoint pen marks or typical denim dye transfer – please clean gently. Use lukewarm water and a little mild soap. Gently rub the affected area with a soft cloth. Important: Be sure to avoid aggressive cleaning agents or alcohol-based disinfectants! These can open the pores of the synthetic leather and permanently trap the stain in the surface. If cleaning is no longer sufficient, the affected upholstery parts can be replaced individually at BRUMABA – for a hygienically perfect and visually appealing solution.

What are the Battery Cycles of the Tables and how Can I Maintain Them?
BRUMABA operating tables have powerful batteries with a typical operating time of 1 to 2 weeks per charge – depending on usage. To best maintain battery life and ensure uninterrupted operation, we recommend a fixed charging cycle. Here’s how to do it correctly:
  • Fixed rhythm: Set a fixed charging time – e.g. from Friday to Monday over the weekend.
  • Full charge: A full battery charge takes about 10–12 hours.
  • Monitoring: Pay attention to the battery indicator and warning signals (visual and acoustic) to charge in time.
  • Important for planning: Make sure that the socket also carries power at night (is not switched off via a central switch).
  • Holiday tip: Fully charge the operating table and switch it off before you go on holiday – this will protect the battery.
With a consistently maintained charging cycle, you ensure long battery life, reliability in everyday operating room use and maximum service life.
How Do I Clean and Maintain My Operating Table?
Regular and careful cleaning and maintenance of your operating table is essential for hygiene, value retention and longevity. Here’s how to proceed:
  • After each surgery: Thoroughly clean not only the surfaces, but also the accessories of your operating table. Many cushions can be completely removed – so you can wipe clean underneath them as well.
  • Ball joints: Keep them clean and mobile. If necessary, you can keep them running smoothly with a suitable Teflon spray.
  • Disinfection: The operating table must be disinfected after each patient. Be sure to use suitable disinfectants to avoid damaging the synthetic leather:
  • Do not use any chlorine-containing agents
  • The alcohol content should be below 30%
  • At the first sign of hardening or cracking of the cushions: Change disinfectant immediately!
  • Care: After disinfection, we recommend treating the cushions regularly with Marti cushion care. This maintains the elasticity and prolongs the life of the materials.
Further details and recommended cleaning agents can be found in the product folder. With the right care, your BRUMABA operating table will remain hygienic, functional and visually appealing – even over many years.
How to Care for the Operating Table?
  • Select an appropriate care product and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Care for the cushions approximately 1-2 >times per month.
What Cleaning Agents Can I Use?
You can find a list of suitable agents in your product folder. In general:
  • Do not use chlorine – chlorine-containing agents attack the surface and lead to premature wear.
  • Maximum 30% alcohol content – use disinfectants with a low alcohol content to avoid drying out or damaging the material.
  • No abrasives or solvents – these can dull or roughen the surface.
  • Always wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth – and then wipe dry.
Tip: Test new cleaning agents in an inconspicuous area beforehand. If you have any questions, our team will be happy to help.
How Do I Disinfect the Operating Table?
  • Use a suitable disinfectant.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Disinfect the operating table before each use.
  • Apply the disinfectant evenly, including on cables, and wait until it is dry.
How Do I Clean the Operating Table?
The cushions of your BRUMABA operating tables and treatment couches are made of high-quality, durable materials. To maintain their lifespan, please observe the following cleaning and disinfection instructions:
  • Switch off the operating table and always unplug the power cord
  • Unplug the hand control and foot switch
  • Remove the cushions
  • Clean the cushions, stainless steel surfaces, hand control, and foot switch with a mild all-purpose cleaner. For stainless steel, you may also use a stainless steel cleaner.
  • Wipe the cushions and stainless steel dry with a dry, lint-free cloth
My Operating Table is not Working – What Can I Do?
If your BRUMABA operating table is not responding, please go through the following points step by step:
  • Is the battery charged? Check the battery indicator or connect the charger. Many malfunctions are caused by an empty battery.
  • If the table still does not start after charging, disconnect the charger from the mains for 10 seconds and reconnect it – this may reset the charging electronics.
If none of these steps solve the problem: Contact our support – we will help you quickly and easily.
Which Disinfectant Can I Use?
For cleaning and disinfecting your BRUMABA operating tables and treatment couches, we exclusively recommend tested, material-compatible agents. Important: Please refer to the information in your product folder, where you will find a list of recommended and tested disinfectants as well as instructions for proper use. This ensures that cushions, coatings, and technology remain permanently protected. Tip: Avoid alcohol-based disinfectants with a high solvent content or harsh cleaning agents – they can damage the surfaces. If you have any uncertainties, please feel free to contact our team – we will be happy to advise you personally.
