Beach Chair Position – Optimal Access for Shoulder Operations

Special attention is paid to the beach chair position, which covers several purposes in orthopedics. It is considered a reliable and effective position for performing all types of arthrotic procedures on the shoulder, as patients can be easily positioned and remain in an anatomical position. The upper extremities are relaxed, which makes it even easier to identify the inner and outer anatomical landmarks.

In the beach chair position, the patients are in a semi-seated position, with the upper body raised by approx. 60°. The legs can be bent or stretched, depending on the procedure.
